Why We Built Cultivar Kids: A Family-First Approach to Financial Literacy

Creating lasting connections between people and their perfect homes, redefined luxury living that seamlessly integrates comfort.

At Cultivar Communities, we believe financial literacy isn't just about money—it's about access, stability, and self-determination. It’s about helping families build a foundation for generational wealth, starting from the inside out. That belief led us to launch Cultivar Kids, a new initiative rooted in culture, storytelling, and real-life learning.

We saw a gap and an opportunity

For too long, financial education has been dry, outdated, or disconnected from the communities who need it most. Many programs are designed for individuals, not families. They focus on abstract concepts, not the day-to-day decisions that shape long-term habits.

We wanted to change that. We asked: What would it look like to build a financial literacy experience that was engaging, culturally relevant, and built around the whole family not just the individual learner?

Centering families, not just students

Cultivar Kids is built around real households—multigenerational, multilingual, full of energy and hustle. We designed tools that parents, caregivers, and kids can use together: conversation prompts for the dinner table, savings goals kids can track with help, stories that reflect their experiences, and community events that make learning joyful.

It’s not a one-size-fits-all curriculum. It’s a growing ecosystem of content and experiences that reflect the values, rhythms, and realities of the communities we serve.

Culture and community are part of the solution

Our approach is grounded in culture. We believe representation matters—whether that’s through stories, examples, or the faces leading the lessons. We pull from shared traditions and heritage, integrating behavioral science with relatable narratives to help families build confidence in their financial journey.

Cultivar Kids is more than a program, it’s a movement to normalize financial conversations at home, at school, and across communities that have historically been left out of the conversation.

What’s next

We’re piloting retreats, camps, and digital content for families in 2025. As we grow, we’ll continue to partner with schools, nonprofit organizations, and financial institutions to expand access and deepen impact.

This isn’t just about teaching kids to save. It’s about equipping whole families to build lives of dignity, possibility, and generational strength.
